Devotions for week of Sept. 20

Posted on Sun, Sep 20, 2015

Begin by reading the invocation. Read the assigned Psalm for the week once or twice and take a few moments to center yourself on God, relaxing and paying close attention to your breathing. Pray for yourself and others, allowing time for God to place others in your thoughts. Read the day's assigned Scripture slowly and reflectively, perhaps more than once, taking time to allow thoughts and images to form in your mind. Reflect on the Scripture, perhaps writing in your journal. Close with the benediction.

Invocation: My God, you saw me in my unformed substance and numbered my days before I had lived one of them. Be close to me now, my God, help me to love you without restraint and to manage all the affairs of my life to the end that when I stand to give account, I need not be ashamed. In the name of the Lord. Amen.

Psalm: Psalm 3

Daily Scripture Readings:

Sunday: Matthew 20: 1-16

Monday: 1 Cor. 4: 1-7

Tuesday: 1 Cor. 4: 8-13

Wednesday: 1 Thessalonians 1: 1-10

Thursday: 2 Thessalonians 1: 1-4

Friday: Luke 12: 35-40

Saturday: Luke 12: 41-48

Benediction: Hold before my eyes, my Lord, the diminishing number of my fleeting days, that I may receive them as precious gifts and live them in faithfulness and fidelity to you. Amen.
