Begin by reading the affirmation. Read the assigned Psalm for the week once or twice and take a few moments to center yourself on God, relaxing and paying close attention to your breathing. Pray for yourself and others, allowing time for God to place others in your thoughts. Read the day's assigned Scripture slowly and reflectively, perhaps more than once, taking time to allow thoughts and images to form in your mind. Reflect on the Scripture, perhaps writing in your journal. Close with the statement of response.
Affirmation: At the word of God the heavens and earth were born and by God's word they forever remain. I pledge to live this day according to the words of promise I now confess to you. O, my God! My loving God! In this hour of prayer come to me. Speak words of life and love into the depths of my being. I love you, my God. Truly I love you!
Psalm 18
Sunday: Acts 4: 5-12
Monday: John 21: 15-17
Tuesday: Deuteronomy 6: 1-9
Wednesday: John 11: 28-37
Thursday: John 15: 9-11
Friday: Colossians 3: 12-14
Saturday: Galatians 5: 22-26
My response: I do love you, my Lord, but not faithfully enough. I confess that my love runs hot and cold. My God, help me to understand this mystery about myself. Why must my relationship with you be a come and go affair?
