Devotions for week of April 5

Posted on Sun, Apr 5, 2015:

Begin by reading the affirmation. Read the assigned Psalm for the week once or twice and take a few moments to center yourself on God, relaxing and paying close attention to your breathing. Pray for yourself and others, allowing time for God to place others in your thoughts. Read the day's assigned Scripture slowly and reflectively, perhaps more than once, taking time to allow thoughts and images to form in your mind. Reflect on the Scripture, perhaps writing in your journal. Close with the statement of response.

Affirmation: No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I comman d you. I do not call you servants any longer becfause my servant does not know what the master is doing, but I have call you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. (John 15. 13-15)

Psalm 23

Sunday: Mark 16. 1-8

Monday: Matthew 28. 1-10

Tuesday:  Revelation 1. 12-20

Wednesday: Luke 24. 1-12

Thursday: Acts 17. 16-21

Friday: Luke 20. 27-40

My response:  I know, O Lord, that if I follow close to you nothing shall be able to separate me from your endless life and love. Give me the grace to make your work my home, that I may know you more intimately and follow you more closely -- evermore.
